Scenarios are decision-making games, stories or simulations, which can be used both for fun or for professional traning - e.g. for doctors, nurses, military personnel, drivers, social workers...
The branching enables the reader to decide - and to live through the consequences of his decisions immediately.
In the world of fiction, you might have read a series of fighting-fantasy books by Steve Jackson - for example Khare, Cityport of Traps.
Task 1
Play some of the following scenarios. Which of them would you choose for:
A military personel
B the final year of a vocational school
C 2nd grade of "osmilete gymnazium"
Enter your suggestions into the comments to this blog entry. Include the reasoning!
Examples of scenarios:
Escape
The Perfect Day
Fantasy (download required)
While writing the scenario, you should always define the following:
1. Target group - age, proficiency
2. Task - what the class should do, identifying the final outcome and product
3. Aims and objectives: what the class will learn in these fields:
factual knowledge
language (vocabulary, reading skills...)
communicative skills
social skills

OdpovědětVymazatAll those games can be played by anyone but some of them were at first made for specific reasons and that´s why we are associating these games with specific profession, activity or group of people.
OdpovědětVymazatEscape - Mostly it is made to get out of stressful situation, which is useful for military personel but anyone else too. Go for it guys, it´s fun !
The Perfect day - is kinda motivational game and I think that its mainly targeting C
Africa - It´s more difficult in case of language so answer B is suitable.
Survival - This is definately made for military purposes, but it was fun though :D
Fantasy - I didn´t even finish this one. Definetely targeting young asian generation (no racism included).
Twine is easy and real fun to use. Thank you for tool like this Mr. Pavliková :-)
I have tried to play all of these games instead of “Fantasy”. I got to the finish in all of them, which I played. I must say that it is very nice made, I like the story created based on each decision. For military personal I would play either “Ecspae” or “Survival”. You have to take into consideration lots of aspects in order to decide well and not to be killed. Both of them were thrilling, especially the “Survival”. I would recommend “The Perfect Day” for the 2nd grade of "osmilete gymnazium" where they can learn how to manage their day in order to be succesful and happy at school. “Africa” is little bit more difficult I would say. It requieres higher knowledge and life experience. For that reason I would advice the older children to play this game, therefore I would choose the final year of a vocational school. All of them were great, it was something new for me, thank you :-)
